FAQ

• What are the requirements for acceptance to the KLLM Driving Academy?
  Basic requirements include, but aren't limited to, you being 21 years old or older, have held a driver's license for 12 months prior to attending, and be drug-free. There is no high school or GED educational requirement for acceptance. A KLLM recruiter can go over all requirements at 1-800-925-5556.
• What states do you accept KLLM Driving Academy students from looking to earn their CDL-A?
  We currently accept KLLM Driving Academy entry-level students from Mississippi, Louisiana, Indiana, and Illinois without a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP). We also accept students who already have a CLP from Ohio, Georgia, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
• How many days does it take to complete the KLLM Driving Academy CDL-A course?
  22 days of class if you don't already have your Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) and 18 days of class if you already have your CLP.
• How many days does it take to complete the KLLM Driving Academy Refresher Course?
  9 days of class
• What states do you accept refresher course students from?
  We accept refresher course students from many states around the country. This is all based on where we are currently hiring drivers. Give us a call today at 1-800-925-5556 to speak to a recruiter on if your state is eligible. 
• How much does it cost to attend the KLLM Driving Academy?
  There are no out-of-pocket tuition costs, hotel costs, or permit/licensing fees for the KLLM Driving Academy Class-A CDL training or refresher course for students who sign a contract to drive with KLLM for one year after graduation. You never pay anything.  
• Do I have to sign a contract to drive with KLLM to attend the KLLM Driving Academy?
  In order for the full expenses of your tuition, hotel, permit/licensing fees and more to be covered by KLLM to attend the KLLM Driving Academy as an entry-level student there is a 12-month contract commitment to drive for KLLM. As a refresher course student, there is a 6-month contract to drive for KLLM.
• How much am I paid while at the KLLM Driving Academy?
  For students who attend our Jackson, MS., academy, there is a $200 incentive bonus that is paid out to entry-level, permit holders, and refresher students during the 22 days. Students are also paid $812/week training pay while on the truck with their KLLM certified trainer for those 240 hours in total of training after graduation.
• Do you drug test at the KLLM Driving Academy?
  Yes, on your first day of class you will take a DOT urinalysis and a company-required hair follicle drug test.
• Where will I stay during my time at the KLLM Driving Academy?
  Both Class-A CDL training students and refresher course students are provided hotel rooms by the KLLM Driving Academy during their time at the academy—assuming that they don’t live locally and are able to commute daily
• How will I get to the KLLM Driving Academy to start my training?
  We provide all our students the option of a paid bus ticket to the KLLM Driving Academy. You can also bring your own personal vehicle or arrive via your own travel arrangements. 
• Will I be able to drive for KLLM after completing the KLLM Driving Academy?
  After graduating from the KLLM Driving Academy and completing your 240 hours of on-the-road training with your KLLM certified trainer (paid $812/week while on the road with trainer) you have the opportunity to gain employment with KLLM and upgrade to your own truck upon a successful upgrade test. The final decision to hire an individual or not is at the sole discretion of KLLM.
